(Reuters) -Spirit Aviation has engaged rival Frontier Group in high-level talks about the carrier's ongoing efforts to chart a path forward less than six months after emerging from bankruptcy, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday.

Spirit Chairman Robert Milton met earlier this week with Frontier Chair Bill Franke, to discuss Spirit's rebuilding efforts and the broader state of the U.S. airline industry, with no talks of an acquisition, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Reuters could not immediately verify the report. Spirit and Frontier did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
