AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead following a shooting in South Austin involving an Austin Police Department officer.
According to APD, the shooting happened in the 1800 block of W Slaughter Lane. Police say they were investigating a series of burglaries, including a home invasion with a gun where it was pointed at a homeowner.
APD said they found the suspect at a strip mall. The suspect then drew a gun, but was tackled by a bystander.
Officers then fired shots, killing the suspect. The bystander was also hit in the shoulder, but Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said that they were in "good condition."
Chief Davis said video of the incident will be released in 72 hours.
