CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A temporary checkpoint and street blockade will take place outside the ICE field office in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.

Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Services officials told Escusha Mi Voz and Catholic Worker House Leaders that they plan to set up a checkpoint and blockade on September 2.

Community members are planning to support three immigrant families during their ICE check-ins and protest the new checkpoint at 3351 Square D Dr SW at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Escucha Mi Voz.

The DHS FPS says the blockage will consist of police cars, multiple law enforcement officers, caution tape, and barricades.
