ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Louisiana’s highest court will host a summit in Rapides Parish in September, aimed at keeping kids in school and eliminating truancy issues in the Pelican State.

Truancy in Louisiana is at an undesirable level, according to Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice John Weimer. This is why he is leading the charge for the 2025 Solutions Summit, a statewide, collaborative initiative to combat escalating rates of absenteeism by Louisiana’s students.

Chief Justice Weimar said there’s a better way to approach truancy than punishment.
