Two children were killed and more than a dozen others hurt when a shooter opened fire during a morning mass at a Catholic school in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

San Francisco faith and community leaders had initially gathered to speak about an upcoming event, but that conversation turned to focus on the deadly tragedy.

As they reflected on the deadly shooting, the Bay Area leaders are hoping the tragedy spurs action.

"I trust that from this most unfortunate loss of lives of two babies, it would shake up America and we would realize that we need to live together as brothers and sisters and as leaders stop this rancor," Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. Amos Brown said.

Their message was clear, denouncing gun violence and urging people to pressure leaders to take action to prevent future attacks.
