HAYS, Kan. (KSNW) — One of Kansas’ longest-running disc golf tournaments is returning to Hays. The 41st Annual Frontier Open will bring about 180 players from across the country to the Flying Bison Disc Golf Course at Frontier Park on Sept. 6–7.
The event, organized by the Flyin’ Bison Disc Golf Club, has been part of the community for more than four decades. The course itself was built in the late 1970s and is recognized as the last remaining original grassroots disc golf course in the state.
“We are incredibly proud of the Flying Bison Disc Golf Course,” Jeff Boyle, Hays parks director, said in a news release. “It’s a piece of our city’s and the sport’s history.” He noted the course’s natural terrain, including Big Creek and wooded fairways, makes it a challenging stop for even veteran
