KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Local Catholic families are grieving and praying for their fellow Catholics after a shooting killed two children and wounded several others a thousand miles away.

A shooter opened fire through the windows of the church at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis on Wednesday. The pews of the church were filled with teachers, parents and school children.

Two children died and 18 other people were wounded. Fifteen of the 18 wounded victims were children.

Knoxville Catholics and diocesan leaders are showing their support.

10News spoke to parishioners at Thursday's noon mass at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The cathedral, like Annunciation, is both a church and a K-8 school.
