Police are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects in an Aug. 22 shooting in Dorchester that started as an attempted carjacking.

Police on Monday issued a community alert and released photos of several people on scooters who were allegedly involved in the incident, which happened around 6 p.m. in the area of Old Colony Terrace and Savin Hill Avenue.

There, officers found a male victim lying in the middle of the street next to a pickup truck. He had been shot in the abdomen; his wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Police said one suspect was described as wearing a white full-face mask, dark clothing, and white and red footwear. Police said that person’s right forearm and wrist area may be injured.
