SUPERIOR, Wis. – In Superior, Mayor Jim Payne started Pride Weekend today, with a reception at the Spirit Room.

‘Duluth-Superior Pride’ returns this Labor Day Weekend, with events on both sides of the Twin Ports. The weekend marks the 39th year of pride in the Northland, highlighting the 2SLGBTQIA community while bringing the ‘spirit of inclusivity’ to the area for all.

“When this festival was founded, when we first started celebrating it, almost nobody was doing it,” said Mayor Jim Paine, Superior. “It was dangerous to do it, it was illegal to do it, and we did it anyway.”

The festivities for the rest of the weekend include the annual Duluth Superior Pride Festival at Bayfront Park on Saturday, and the Parade on Tower Avenue in Superior, on Sunday
