HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Charleston got a game’s worth of offense in the first inning on Thursday night.

The Dirty Birds tallied eight times in the top of the first inning for all the offense they’d need in an 8-5 defeat of High Point in Atlantic League action at Truist Point.

Charleston (19-26 second half, 49-59 overall) scored four times before it made an out. Keon Barnum, Zach Daniels and Demetrius Moorer all hit first-frame round-trippers.

The Dirty Birds racked up eight of their 12 hits in the first inning.

James Nelson, Alsander Womack, Barnum and Daniels each registered two hits. Barnum and Moorer knocked in three runs apiece.

Samuel Reyes, the second-to-last of five Dirty Birds pitchers, got the win, as despite the glut of early offense, starter Eddy Demurias only went four frames
