MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- The Matthews Alive festival is as strong as ever as a Labor Day weekend tradition.

This weekend, downtown Matthews will again transform into a center of music, food and activities for the four-day event. It brings 100,000 visitors to town annually and over half-a-entry, has contributed $2.1 million to the community. Here is what to expect:

The festival is full of live music

The entertainment begins Friday at 6:30 pm. with the Carolina Barnburners, playing classic rock, dance, soul and beach hits, then the Band of Oz takes the stage for a night of beach music at 8:30 p.m.

The next three days have wall-to-wall entertainment for adults and children alike. It starts Saturday at 11 a.m., with acts including the Nathan Morgan Band, Petty Rewind and the Tin
