RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) - The NC State Wolfpack got out to a commanding 17-0 lead on the ECU Pirates in Raleigh Thursday night before the Pirates made it a ballgame in the 4th quarter.
The Pirates got within 10 points by halftime, and cut the lead to 7 with a little more than 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Wolfpack could have gone back up by 10 with around 5 minutes left, but they missed a field goal, and the Pirates took over.
The Pirates were on the Wolfpack 10-yard line with a chance to tie the game, but could not convert a 4th down and one and turned the ball over to NC State with under 40 seconds left on the clock.
The final score was 24-17.
The Pirates home opener is Next Saturday at 6:00 p.m. when they take on the Campbell Camels.
