Mark Bedell, superintendent of Anne Arundel County Public Schools, addressed the potential for a bus driver strike.

While the strike was authorized this week, the vote did not immediately start a strike. Bedell said he’s hoping to update the school board on Friday.

“We are planning on updating the school board on what we’re looking at. Our hope is that they don’t go on a strike,” Bedell said. “We’ve already looked at talking to some of our other partners to see if they could take some of the routes.”

Bedell also confirmed that children were dropped off by a school bus along Ritchie Highway.
