Human remains found in a Tennessee woods more than five years ago are those of a man who hadn't been seen by his family in Livonia for more than two decades, officials announced this week.
Family members of Gerald J. Forsman told authorities in Tennessee they hadn't seen him since 2003, according to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center (RFC). The manner and cause of his death are still unknown, the RFC said in a social media post.
Forsman's remains were found in May 2020, in a wooded area near a residence near Overbrook Drive in southern Knoxville, Tennessee, authorities said, but they were in an "advanced stage of decomposition" and could not be readily identified.
