The following is an official statement from Roman Catholic Diocese of Cheyenne Bishop Steven Biegler on the mass shooting Wednesday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis:

"I want to express my deep sadness at the tragic news of the shooting that took place yesterday during a Mass held to mark the first week of classes for Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.

"I encourage the faithful to pray for the comfort and peace of all those affected, and to pray that the souls of the deceased children be commended to the love of God. Let us also pray for healing for those who are wounded, consolation for the first responders, and perseverance for clergy and others who are ministering to Annunciation Catholic School families and educators.
