RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) -- Building issues and safety concerns are adding up in the Rapid City Area School District.
Administrators say it's getting to the point that they're preventing students from maximizing their education.
Behind the basketball hoop in the Robbinsdale Elementary School gym, you'll find a series of cracks.
Rapid City's superintendent says you'll also find cracks in the foundation, and it's all because of structural issues.
"We need to build a new elementary school to replace that one as soon as possible," RCAS Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson said.
The problems go beyond Robbinsdale.
When the temperature heats up outside, so do the classrooms in many Rapid City Schools. It's already led to two early dismissals this fall.
