LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As families prepare for barbecues, lake trips, and celebrations this Labor Day weekend, one Hot Springs father hopes his story will remind drivers to think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking.
On August 31, 2020, Charles Steward was driving home from work when another car crossed the center line and slammed into him head-on.
The driver of the other vehicle, who police say was intoxicated, did not survive the crash.
Steward, however, lived—but with life-altering injuries. Both ankles were fractured, five ribs were broken, and two of his lungs were punctured. Doctors warned he might never walk again.
