ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Midge Banks Thomas will soon celebrate her 99th birthday, and Rochester leaders gathered at City Hall to honor her remarkable contributions to the community.

Thomas, who moved to Rochester in 1957 with her husband Dr. Freddie Thomas, has been recognized for her dedication to the people of Rochester. Together, they opened their home to support countless individuals and their aspirations.

"You have adopted so many people and touched so many lives. Long after you have left this earth, the spirit of Margaret Banks Midge Thomas will be present, alive and well," said Bill Johnson, former mayor of Rochester.
