TOMS RIVER -- Donovan Catholic football is a dynamic entity capable of reinventing itself in any given year and emerging as a contender. This year's squad was exciting as any team assembled in recent years, but the coronation of the 2025 edition of the Griffins was spoiled by a team with a steady identity and a relentless style of play.
For four quarters, the Griffins looked like the better team with dazzling moments on offense, defense and special teams. And yet, the scoreboard had the final word. Donovan Catholic was undone by its lack of coherence and consistency as Kingsway's resilience and grit was the difference in the Dragons' 20-7 victory on Thursday night (Aug. 28).
