HARRIS TOWNSHIP — One man is dead from what authorities said appears to be a shooting in self-defense early Thursday in northeastern Menominee County.
At about 12:19 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post were called to a residence on County Road 551 in Harris Township, where a 34-year-old Wilson man had been shot. Despite troopers and EMS personnel attempting life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead on site, according to a MSP news release.
The preliminary investigation indicates the man was involved in a physical assault with his domestic partner at the residence before the shooting. The man then assaulted another person in the home with a knife and was shot in what appears to be self-defense, a second news release states.
