SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department arrested a suspect after a wild police chase on Tuesday, August 26.

The SFPD reported on Tuesday at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers from the DMACC Enforcement Team observed a known suspect wanted for a violent felony out of Southern California in the area of Market and Jones Streets, driving a vehicle.

Officers attempted to disable the suspect vehicle on Jones Street near Golden Gate Avenue. Officers deployed a spike strip and used their vehicles to block the suspect vehicle, but the suspect reversed his vehicle onto the sidewalk near officers.

During a rapidly unfolding situation, the officers were in harm’s way and at risk of injury and death as they tried to take the suspect into custody.
