WALTON, Ky. —

Two deputies were shot while serving an arrest warrant in Walton, Kentucky late Thursday. The suspected shooter is dead.

It happened just after 10 p.m., when two Boone County deputies responded to serve an arrest warrant along Service Road. Advertisement

The shots fired prompted a massive police response, evacuating residents and bringing in multiple agencies, including SWAT.

After an hourslong SWAT situation, officials confirmed the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect has not been identified but more information is forthcoming.
