COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - This weekend marks a city-wide favorite in the Springs: Labor Day Lift Off.
Starting Saturday, thousands of people are expected to pack Memorial Park each day to see the incredible hot air balloons.
But managing a large crowd has its challenges.
“We’re super excited for Labor Day lift off this year,” Caitlin Ford with CSPD said, “we’ve got plenty of officers who are gonna be out here, from our special events team to our extra on-duty officers that are gonna be out here.”
An event this size requires more than extra CSPD officers, and the Colorado Springs Sports Corps works alongside the city, police, fire and a private security company to make the event go smoothly.
