EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State football is back at Spartan Stadium, as the Spartans prepare for kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday vs. Western Michigan.

MSU is 15-2 all-time against Western and owns a 13-game winning streak dating back to 1921.

The Spartans are hoping to turn things around this year after three straight losing seasons. Second-year head coach Jonathan Smith is looking to improve on his 5-7 record from last season and bring MSU back to a bowl game for the first time since 2021.

Friday’s game is the first of three nonconference home games to start the Spartans’ season. MSU hosts Boston College on Sept. 6 and Youngstown State on Sept. 13 before beginning its nine-game Big Ten Conference schedule.

It all starts Friday night at 7 p.m. at Spartan Stadium.
