A former top official at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dropped a bombshell in a Thursday night interview with CNN amid shakeups at the agency that include the ousting of Trump’s newly appointed director.

Dr. Demetre Daskalakis resigned from his position as director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases on Wednesday in response to the firing of Director Susan Monarez, who was appointed to the role by President Donald Trump. He is one of four top officials to resign since.
