BUTTE — The energy of Montana’s first college football game of the season lived up to its hype as both Butte and Dillon came out to watch two Frontier rivals face off under the bright lights under Bob Green Field. In the end, Orediggers fans were rewarded with a show in which No. 11 Montana Tech defeated No. 5 Montana Western 38-27 in a highly anticipated season opener.

Although Tech and Western are now nonconference rivals in the newly expanded Frontier conference, the energy was high as both teams scraped for the lead, which the Orediggers held on to from the opening drive to the last. Here are a couple early outlooks on Tech’s season.
