It's no surprise that print media has needed to adapt with new technology and platforms. A major milestone in that transition was announced today.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one of the biggest news networks in Georgia , and the country, will soon be ending the publication of its print newspapers. Here's what we know:

Why is the AJC ending print newspapers?

A large part of the decision to end the print publications seems to be about how news is consumed lately. In the announcement it published Thursday, the AJC talked about how digital subscriptions are on pace to grow at least 25% with about 115,000 subscribers, of whom about 40,000 receive the printed paper. They said print circulation peaked at more than 600,000 about 20 years ago.
