SHAMOKIN DAM — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking bids for a contract to complete the southern section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway.

Paving bids are to be opened Sept. 25, David Wise, an assistant construction project manager, said Thursday.

Although some preliminary work might start over the winter, paving will not begin until spring, he said. Completion date for the southern section, except for the Route 61 connector, is late 2027.

The southern section will connect the northern end of the Route 11/15 Selinsgrove Bypass with the Winfield Route 15 interchange that was built as part of the northern section of the thruway.

Another firm is completing a $104.6 million contract to build nine bridges and four noise barriers on the southern section.
