Season 11 of “Chicago Med” is set to premiere on Oct. 1, and fans will notice a familiar face in the new episodes.

“Chicago Med” OG Nick Gehlfuss will reprise his role as Dr. Will Halstead in season 11 after previously leaving the show during season 8. Viewers last saw Dr. Halstead resigning from Gaffney Chicago Medical Center and flying to Seattle to reunite with his ex-fiancée, Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

Gehlfuss will be a guest star on season 11, although it’s unclear exactly how many episodes he’ll appear in. He previously told People that he and the “Chicago Med” producers agreed to leave the door open for him to return one day.

“[We wanted to] preserve the ability to bring Halstead back if the opportunity presents itself,” he told the outlet.
