Donald Trump has been urged to take action over Vladimir Putin’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine immediately as Ukrainians warn the country is “out of time”.

The US president has tried to encourage the Russian president to the negotiating table with threats of further sanctions but is yet to see any substantial progress.

Putin even launched a deadly strike on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Wednesday night, killing at least 18 people including four children , and hitting the offices of the British Council and EU delegations.

This sparked widespread outrage, and Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said it was clear Moscow was choosing “ballistics instead of the negotiating table”.

But the White House had a much calmer reaction, saying Trump was “not happy, but also not surprised”.
