A man was fatally shot in East Los Angeles Thursday.

Deputies from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station were called to the 4500 block of Whittier Boulevard, two blocks east of the Long Beach (710) Freeway, at approximately 12:10 p.m. Thursday regarding a shooting, said homicide Lt. Steven De Jong.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau was assisting deputies from the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station with the homicide investigation.
