Watching the debate around the wastewater cluster system proposed for 0 Gunters Lane is very interesting, and we are glad to see so many residents engaged in town politics.
We understand both arguments. On one side, you have residents arguing fervently to preserve this slice of open space that we ourselves explored not too long ago.
We understand their passion: if we lived on a cozy cul-de-sac, we do not think we would be too happy, either, if the open space in our neighborhood was destined to become municipal infrastructure, low-grade or otherwise. It just mars the charm.
But on the other hand, Mashpee’s water quality problems are exceedingly serious and in dire need of attention.
