CLEVELAND, Ohio - A police shooting near Case Western Reserve University left many students unfazed, with some saying that they feel safe on campus, despite two chases in the past four months.
They cited the university’s shelter-in-place alerts during the incident Wednesday, as well as their beliefs that the campus is generally safe. Others said they attend an urban university and they realize violence takes place around them.
The incident began when an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a 2025 Kia K4 without license plates on Woodland Avenue. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Leon Terrell, refused to stop, leading to a pursuit, authorities said.
