Budget supermarket chain Aldi has revealed it will be the first retailer to implement a new £13.02 hourly rate from Monday, September 1. The discount giant has reassessed its wage structure and will boost salaries for shop floor workers from £12.75 per hour to £13.02 per hour starting in September.
Back in July, Aldi had declared it would raise wages to £13 hourly from September, but has now confirmed an additional 2p increase to "strengthen its commitment to never be outdone on wages". The supermarket claims to be the first grocery retailer offering this base rate, which also rises to £13.95 with experience.
Across London, the new rates climb from £14.05 hourly to £14.35, reaching £14.66 with service length, reports the Exp
