A woman was brought to safety after being seen on a bridge over the A38 in Plymouth yesterday (August 28). Emergency services were called to the scene near Honicknowle after reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended around 5.10pm. The woman was brought to safety just after 6pm and was left in the care of the ambulance service.

At the time of the incident, multiple witnesses said there was a large emergency service response on the A38. One driver told PlymouthLive there were delays on 45 minutes in the area.

One person said: "Loads of emergency vehicles going onto A38 near Devonport turn off. Seen the police block entrance by Manadon A38 and seen a fire engine go down just before."
