John Eustace hopes Dajaune Brown will thrive at Port Vale and says the loan move is important for the Derby County striker's development.

Brown sealed a season-long switch to the League One side on Wednesday and is in line to be included in their squad to face Reading tomorrow.

With Carlton Morris currently first-choice striker and Lars Jorgen-Salvesen and Patrick Agyemang returning to training, Brown would have been fourth choice in the pecking order at Derby.

The club did not want to see the striker just sit on the bench which is why they sanctioned a loan move knowing first-team football is critical at this stage of his career.

The 19-year-old will now look to become a mainstay in the Vale team under former Rams defender Darren Moore, and Eustace said it is important Brown plays
