Five minutes into the fiery opening of “The Rainmaker,” USA Network’s newest TV series, fans are treated to some familiar sights: downtown Charleston, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, and the glassy, geometric Morrison Yard Office.
The legal series is based on the best-selling 1995 novel that author John Grisham set in Memphis, Tenn. The television series, however, is set in Charleston. It follows underdog Rudy Baylor, who is fresh out of law school and looking to take on a corrupt insurance company in a David-versus-Goliath battle for justice.
While you may be excited to tune in at 10 p.m. Fridays to spot more Lowcountry locales — like you would with HBO’s “Righteous Gemstones” or Netflix’s “Outer Banks” — that may be all you get.
