Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine's shuttered restaurant racked up debts of nearly £500,000, new figures have revealed.

The star - who has portrayed Fiz in the ITV soap since 2001 - closed her Manchester establishment Annies in July, informing Instagram followers they were closing "with a heavy heart".

The Sun has reported that the restaurant, which the actress ran alongside husband Chris, owed £498,764.

Companies House documentation reveals the debt encompassed £31,167 to the bank, £1,272 to Manchester council and £6,911 in tax to HMRC. The records also indicate £411,941 in director's loans, reports OK!
