WHITING — Nearly 8 inches of heavy rainfall swept through Whiting early last week, leaving behind significant damage in the Robertsdale area.

To help with cleanup efforts, members of Whiting's football team spent last Saturday hauling away fallen tree branches and disposing of damaged belongings.

"Our city is an extension of our family," athletic director Adam Musielak said.

He added, "It's super important to look around and see on a Friday night how our students are participating and then turn around on Saturday morning to be out giving up their time."
