CHICAGO — Yankees manager Aaron Boone’s pre-game media scrum Thursday included a double dose of pitching news:

1. Left-hander Ryan Yarbrough , whose two-plus months on the IL with oblique strain is expected to end soon, will pitch out of the Yankees bullpen even though he’s been building up his pitch count in three recent starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

2. Reliever Jonathan Loaisiga indeed is done for the season with a flexor strain in his right elbow. This was suspected last week when Loaisiga had an MRI and then confirmed after he sought out other opinions.

Neither update was unexpected.

Yarbrough pitched pretty well this season as a starter (3-1, 3.83 ERA, 8 starts) and long reliever (0-0, 4.11 ERA, 8 games), but is being viewed as a bullpen arm going forward becaus
