Fire damages Burger King in New London

NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) - Firefighters put out flames at a fast food restaurant in New London early Friday morning.

The New London Fire Department said the fire was reported at a Burger King on Colman Street just before 3 a.m.

Firefighters said they found the fire in an office and that it extended into an HVAC space.

They said they were able to quickly extinguished the flames.

Though they contained the fire to the office and the initial area it spread, the fire caused substantial damage to the building.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
