A new rule aimed at anyone with a driveway in England is now in force, which aims to make owning an electric vehicle (EV) easier. The Government announced in May that it was reducing rules for drivers and businesses across England with immediate effect.
This means that planning permission is no longer required to install an EV charging point.
The announcement from the Department for Transport applies to private residential driveways, workplaces, and public streets, potentially benefiting those without a driveway as well.
Previously, there were instances where it took up to nine months to secure planning permission from local councils for public installations.
