LEWISTON, Maine (WMTW) - A juvenile being held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland is accused of trying to get people on the outside to threaten and potentially kill two other people.

Police in Lewiston say the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office reached out to them on Tuesday about suspicious phone activity involving a detainee from Lewiston.

Police say, during monitored phone calls, the juvenile told a girlfriend to pass messages to other people. Police say those messages included instructions to pressure two people into confessing to a recent shooting. Police say the detainee directed that pressure to include serious threats of violence as well as plans to get a gun to enforce those threats.
