DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The holiday known as the “last hurrah of summer,” according to AAA, will have many people traveling near and far for the holiday.

AAA said that while some are traveling away from home, many are choosing to visit nearby beaches or national parks.

Nick Jarmusz, Director of Public Affairs for AAA Wisconsin, said that the best day to travel by car in order to beat traffic was Thursday, August 28.

Friday, August 29 is expected to be the busiest day on the road, specifically between noon and 8 p.m.

However, Jarmusz said that AAA doesn’t expect the holiday to be as busy as Memorial Day or Independence Day.
