Kannon Kemp turned in the best start of his young career Thursday night.

He enjoyed some run support, too.

Kemp turned in the first quality start of his career and Kavares Tears and Dylan Grego both homered, leading low Single-A Lake Elsinore to a 10-0 win over visiting Rancho Cucamonga.

Kemp’s start marked the first time he completed six innings. He tied a career-high with seven strikeouts and turned in a scoreless outing for us the fourth time since debuting this season.

Kemp was an eighth-round pick in 2023 but he’d been delayed by injury.

Kemp is 3-6 with a 5.67 ERA, 60 strikeouts, 29 walks and a 1.49 WHIP through 73 innings.

Tears (.694 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits, including his 12th homer.

Grego’s home run was his second. He also singled.
