EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - The University of Connecticut football team opens its season against an in-state foe on Saturday afternoon.

UConn takes on Central Connecticut State University at Rentschler Field at 2 p.m.

The matchup marks the fifth time the Huskies and the Blue Devils have met.

UConn won four out of the five games, the last came in 2022. It was a 23-8 victory for the Huskies, and the first win under coach Jim Mora.

Mora is entering his fourth season as the team’s head coach.

UConn said he led the team to one of its bet seasons in program history last season. The team finished 9-4. That was its first winning season since 2010.

The 2025-2026 season will also mark the fifth one in which the Huskies will compete as an independent.
