The Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” embodies both a religious precept echoed in Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and other major religions, as well as an ethical precept. For instance, “what is true for one should be true for all,” is called the principle of universality. In other writings similar concepts are referenced as reciprocity or fundamental fairness.
