The last time there wasn’t a single local state football champion was in 2019, at the tail end of an even more prolonged multi-year drought.
Before Eaton ended the drought with its first of three consecutive 2A titles in 2020, the previous local champion was crowned in 2015 when Windsor won the 4A title. That represented a four-year drought, something local contenders like Eaton, Windsor and Roosevelt will try to prevent this time around.
