The Supreme Court of Canada decided this week not to hear an appeal in the Sauble beach ownership case.
The Court released its decision Thursday, which dismissed a request for leave to appeal filed by the Municipality of South Bruce Peninsula, some landowners and the Province.
In its 2023 decision, the Ontario Court of Appeal agreed with Saugeen First Nation that a stretch of the beach continuing from roughly Main Street to past 6th Street North belongs to Saugeen First Nation.

The Supreme Court didn’t give a reason for denying the request, but that’s not unusual.
The beach made headlines on Canada Day, after the landmark sign was changed to “Welcome to Saugeen Beach.”
