PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - With Labor Day weekend marking the unofficial end of summer, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding everyone to be safe when spending time out on the water.

According to CPW, there have been more than a dozen water-related deaths so far in 2025. Six of those deaths occurred at Lake Pueblo State Park.

Since Memorial Day Weekend, CPW has responded to four boat accidents at Lake Pueblo, and they have issued 278 water or boating-related citations.

CPW offers these tips for having fun on the water this Labor Day Weekend:

Wear a life jacket. The majority of water-related deaths occur because people do not wear lifejackets. If you don’t have one, find a loaner station where you can borrow one. Lake Pueblo has two loaner stations.
